Director of Operations (Posted February 2019)

The Effective Leadership Academy (ELA) is a non-profit organization with the mission of impacting the lives of our future leaders. The organization provides leadership and soft skills training helping students develop their most valuable asset – themselves. Over the last 10 years ELA has grown from partnering with 3 schools in 2008 to developing relationships with 150 schools/community organizations in Northeast Ohio (Cuyahoga and Lorain County).

This is an exciting time to join our growing team; the retiring Director of Operations will provide a comprehensive handover of responsibilities. This role will have a significant impact on mission performance, financial success, internal team collaboration, day to day operations and provide the senior team with problem-solving and daily oversight of a committed team of professionals. This position reports to the Executive Director. The successful candidate will be an excellent communicator, problem solver, manager, and leader.

Essential Functions 

  • Staff Management and Leadership: Manage and develop an outstanding staff team with a mix of full- and part-time staff and various sub-contractors that support the effective operations of our growing organization, including staff team reviews and personal development. Staff have multiple roles in addition to primary responsibilities including facilitating programs, managing school/community relations (case manager), and program reporting/evaluations.
  • HR Administration: Adapt and manage hiring and onboarding processes, coordinate HR compliance and employee relations, and develop policies that help maintain a pleasant and productive workplace.
  • Logistics: Effective coordination of staff scheduling that provides appropriate service and coverage levels.  Provide oversight to ensure all school and community organizations programming events regarding marketing, curriculum development, equipment, coordinating space, travel-related issues and staffing are cohesive and collaborative.
  • Case Management: Maintain a personal case management load, managing specific school/community relations, while providing oversight support for team members as they manage their customer relations (co-facilitate if necessary) Review all outgoing contracts and work alongside the Director of Finance for all management of invoices/payments.
  • Office Management:  Manage the general office operation and support functions, including technology systems, general administrative services, and related vendor management. Support a safe and collaborative working environment.
  • Senior Management Team: work collaboratively with other members of our Senior Management Team (i.e., the Founder and Executive Director, Director of Finance and Board Members) to develop plans and strategies that effectively and efficiently serve the organization and mission.


  • Five years of operational management experience is essential, preferably in a senior leadership role.
  • Proven track record of success in developing teams
  • Must be self-driven and able to work independently to address ELA’s needs and implement a scalable infrastructure
  • Strong capability in multitasking and organizational and time-management skills
  • Strong leadership and interpersonal skills are essential in fulfilling the demands of this position
  • Solid decision-making skills and analytical thinking are necessary for the development and implementation of ELA’s strategies and growth
  • Experience in a not-for-profit environment is desirable

Part-time Administrative and Data Associate (Posted February 2019)

POSITIONThis part-time position will assist in most facets of the administrative and data management of a small nonprofit organization. This position will maintain our customer relationship management (CRM) system, this could include invoicing, contract management, staff schedules, interface with Quick Books, camp registration, donor management, program evaluations and surveys.

REPORTS TO: Senior Team


  • Involved with the internal/external team in the initial implementation of the ELA CRM relational database to coordinate communications/data management of clients, cleaning up organization-wide data; updating, importing, and organizing data into the database system; and reporting on key data sets.
  • On-going/ Maintain the integrity of the data within the CRM, and ensure efficient utilization and effective use of the data to move the organization forward.
  • Develop understanding of the aspects of a relational database for efficient use of the CRM system and for possible enhancements going forward.
  • Develop documentation to outline the configuration of the CRM and procedures for users who interact with the system.
  • Support staff development and training in utilization of the CRM.
  • Provide administration support to ELA team members:
  • Scheduling and follow up with internal and external clients
  • Track program assessment data
  • Track registrations and scholarship management
  • Assist with event/donor management


The Administrative and Data Associate is a part-time position, up to 25 hours a week.

Job Description: Substitute Facilitator (ALWAYS OPEN)

POSITION The professionally trained Effective Leadership Academy (ELA) staff will function as a substitute facilitator for ELA programs: CLUB LEAD, CAMP LEAD, Transitions, and Chamber by providing a rigorous curriculum for 21st Century Skills and the critical issues that relate to social and emotional learning. ELA substitute facilitators will collaborate, support, assist and cover for ELA full-time staff as needed.


  • Participates in ELA training program.
  • Acts as a liaison between school staff and ELA Administration.
  • Responsible for delivering and facilitating all of ELA programs; CLUB LEAD, CAMP LEAD, Transitions and Chamber.
  • Delivers program employing ELA divergent learning pedagogy, serving as “guide on the side”, to enable students to construct meaning from their experiences.
  • Forms relationships with students and “builds community”, motivating and inspiring them, giving them confidence to make positive choices in their lives for success in school and beyond.
  • Maintains open communication to report any potential and/or current issues.
  • Maintains positive relationship with students, parents and/or school administration.
  • Responsible for all administrative tasks related to program.
  • Collaborate with ELA staff on a variety of daily administrative tasks and special projects



  • Bachelor’s Degree in Education or associated field, Master’s Degree preferred
