Chamber Leadership Academy (CLA), our youth Chamber program, takes our personal development programming to the next level by partnering with local chambers of commerce, area municipalities, elected officials, and business leaders to turn a city into a classroom. We interlace the experiences and perspectives of community leaders into our curriculum and set it against the backdrop of the host city.
This is a 5-day program where each day is anchored by a central theme, a closely associated leadership skill-set, and a carefully selected location in the host city. Our expert facilitators carefully construct a panel of speakers with unique perspectives and experiences that highlight the day’s chosen theme, and develop custom-designed curriculum and activities that aim to strengthen the student’s 21st Century skill set.
This hands-on, action-based model gives students an experience unlike any other at a critical period of their development. We set aside the traditional classroom instruction and utilize locally-based resources and success stories. This structure gives students tangible applications of 21st-Century skills, local models for success, and an enthusiasm to continue to participate in developmental programming.
What surprised me the most about myself is the type of personality I am. We went over four personality types: amiable, analytical, driver and expressive. While I fit pretty exact to the amiable personality, I realized that I have qualities from all four of those personalities. I thought that was interesting, because I not only really fit into an amiable characteristic, but also fit well with others.
Thank you for my wonderful experience at the Beachwood Chamber Leadership Academy (that has changed my way of life and how I look at the world). The program has been truly helpful, and has taught me a lot about people and myself…Again thank you for teaching me to be a better Leader in Action.
Before this program, I had an idea of what my personality was, but this program has helped me learn how my type of personality works with people of other personalities; it’s really eye-opening. In general, I have learned how to be more confident in myself and not to be afraid to step out of my shell.
The Chamber Leadership Academy season is now complete. Check back in the Fall for information on 2021 Chamber Leadership Academy Programming.
